Rob Bell, Executive Producer?

I saw an article today that said Rob Bell, former 'pastor' of Mars Hill Bible Church, has teamed up with Carlton Cuse (one of the Executive Producers of LOST) to create a drama on ABC with "strong Spiritual overtones."
The show is to be called 'Stronger', and about a character named Tom Stronger- who is a teacher and musician.  It will follow his spiritual walk as he guides others.  It will be semi-biographical of Bell's life, since Bell was a former musician who played with Gospel bands in the 90's.


What I find humorous is that they explicitly said it won't be like 'Touched by an Angel' or '7th Heaven'.   Even more humorous- the article says that "Bell’s expertise is expected to add authenticity to the project."  Apparently abc hasn't been following Rob Bell lately, although they did say the show won't be "straight and square" like other spiritual shows.  Rob Bell is the king of vague.


Bell left his pastoral role of the church he founded in 1999, last week.  The church leadership says he left after "Feeling the call from God to pursue a growing number of strategic opportunities."
As we can see- these 'strategic opportunities' apparently mean tv shows.

Just a heads up: do not go to this show to create your theology.  It will probably be somewhat entertaining.  Probably lots of vignettes, close up shots and 'cool creative dramatic' filters (via Nooma)
