Dropbox is, in a nutshell, an online backup system, networking, and sharing software. It hosts a synchronized folder that is placed on your computer, allowing you to share folders with people. And you get 2 Gigs of storage free!
We use it at Capstone, and it has changed the world of office work for me. No longer do I have to waste space on my external harddrive or flash drive just to transfer a file from one computer to another. I use it almost daily for service prep. John shares mp3s and chord charts of the songs we are doing that Sunday for us to practice, I create announcement slides on my computer, and then synch them up to dropbox, which shares them with the production computer.
The best part is sharing, because when you invite a person to dropbox, both you and that person get a .25 Gig upgrade. You can purchase more space, like 50 Gigs and up, but for the church world, you really can get by with the 2 gigs and upgrade via sharing!
If you are interested in dropbox for personal use, for your church, or for anything else, click this link-Dropbox Referral it uses me as a reference so that I can get some upgraded space, and you as well.
