lightning in the dark

it took you by surprise and you

came close into my arms

the rain outside tapped hard onto

the window pane

it had rained for days

and would for more, at least

according to the weather report

but we barely noticed as we

laid by the fire

inside everything was perfect

you and i and a glass of wine

the way you said i love you

made the way i said it back

filled with passion

we were a match made in heaven

so much more than a label

more than a relationship

this was living.

this was breathing.

and the thunder shook the house.
