don't ask me why i can never be reliable in blog form- because i have no idea. maybe i am one of the few people in the world that realizes my pointless information is boring (not against people who blog- just those who blog about: what they ate today, what they'll eat tomorrow, what they're friends ate and will eat, their normal day to day life that is basically the same as mine with a few changed details, another diet that they are going through and using a public blog as a journal, the list goes on...)
I still write pretty regularly, I just don't feel like sharing. But yeah, one thing that has always been a pet peeve is when someone blogs in order to use it as a personal journal. Many times the titles says something like "My Journey through life", or "My life as ____". One of my "favorites" was a blog by the title of "My Life as a Psychologist's Daughter: This is going to get weird"; I was hoping for interesting tales, instead I found her shopping list.
They make word processors for those of you who want to journal without all those pesky hand movements.
Sorry- I am breaking the very point I am making by doing just that- rambling. And on that note- the leaves are changing where I'm at.
So basically here is the deal: this blog is not a romantic relationship with you. It is more like the girl in high school you had a major crush on, and every week or month or so you look up on facebook. I can't and won't promise you a meaningful relationship of conversations and deep thoughts on a daily/ semi-daily basis. I can't and won't promise you a blog where you will leave going "Holy Smokes! THAT is a blog!" I also can't and won't promise you a birthday gift. We're not exclusive.
I know that any social media expert, intern, person who knows the definition of social media, speaks actively against this. And I understand this. But I'm not in this for followers. I'm not in this for journaliny my private thoughts (see above). I am in this to write things that I think other people will find interesting and or challenging. And when I come up with something that fits that, I will post. Maybe someday my life will get pretty awesome and I'll write twice a week about awesome things like cats who steal pianos, but until then- we're a fling. Sorry.
If you have the desire to read some great daily blogs- check out http://www.sonnyholmes.com/- This is my uncle and he is one heck of a writer/thinker/pastor.
Or check out http://www.jesusneedsnewpr.net/- this is Matthew Paul Turner's blog about Christians who are very stuck in "Jesus was white, American, and only drank smooth Coca-Cola." Its pretty awesome.
Or check out http://www.johnhdukes.blogspot.com/- this is my boss at Capstone, the worship leader. Another guy who really is a decent read! Here you'll get stuff that I thought about blogging about but didn't, since I knew we got the idea from the same place and he would write it better.
