what is a brand? Think of Nike. The moment I said "Nike", you imagined that swoosh in some form. That's because the company has successfully branded themselves to be associated with that. Now whenever you see a swoosh that looks similar, you imagine Nike.
Gatorade has branded themselves with sports. Imagine getting a drink while playing some sport, you imagine Gatorade. Successful branding.
Churches are now beginning to see the positive effects of branding. By having the staff "dress down", by designing hip logos, and by practically shoving the logo, name, and designs down your throat- you remember them.
Churches definitely need to brand themselves. People need to think of certain things when they think of your church.
here are some things they should not think about:
-judgmental
-hypocritical
-greedy
-irrelevant
-old
-stoic
-boring
-shock value
-fame
-watered down
Your branding of the church is a delicate thing. Many times people want so badly to create a "young/hip" brand that they water down the Gospel in order to bring people in. BAD. People should think of love, redemption, and grace when they think of the church, and vice versa.
Everything you do as a church should work for you to brand the church toward those things.
